Charleston visitor imagines better communities across boundaries
The Charleston Gazette-Mail’s Douglas Imbrogno has interviewed Maggie Laidlaw during a visit to West Virginia as part of the Imagine Project, in collaboration with Eric Lassiter at the Marshall University Graduate Humanities Program.
Maggie talks about the Imagine project’s work with community partners, “That’s what a big part of the Imagine Programme is about. It’s about building these relationships and appreciating and acknowledging the strengths within differences in communities,” she said. “Because communities are not about sameness — they’re about differences. They’re about acknowledging differences.”
During her time in Charleston Maggie has met with members of Marshall’s Women’s Studies Program and discussed the use of poetry and collaborative writing as research methods. Read more…
